Boli in pal payasam

(Thiruvananthapuram)

Sweet flavored Boli mixed with delicious pal payasam is a popular cuisine for Keralites in Trivandrum. This is often served in the middle of the banana leaf.

Vella naranga Curry ( Kollam)

Before serving pal payasam, people here often have a bit of vella naranga curry, a mixture of lemon, garlic, kanthari, and salt to get rid of heavy sweetness in payasam or they might taste a bit along with payasam.

Chena Erissery(PATHANAMTHITTA)

This is a widespread dish across people in Pathanamthitta prepared with yam, cowpeas, grated coconut. Some people also add kadala parippu or raw plantain and kadala.

  • Alleppey fish curry

(ALAPPUZHA)

Alleppey fish curry or Karimeen fried or fish Pollichathu is something that cannot be missed on Kerala Sadhya for the people of Alleppey. Chase the flavor of Alleppey fish curry added with coconut milk or spicy form.

(Kottayam)

Ada pradhaman(Idukki)

A blend of Marayoor sharkkara and Maracheeni kizhangu kootu. One of the prominent unavoidable cuisines of Idukki in Onam Sadhya.

  • Palada payasam and Pappadavada

(ERNAKULAM)

A tasty flavorful blend of palada pradhaman along with spicy pappadavada is a perfect combo of Kerala Sadhya for Ernakulam citizens

  • Thrissur style Avial and Erupuli

(THRISSUR)

A Thrissur style avial prepared by a complete sour curd neither dry nor liquid tone. Erupuli is a sweet kind of kaalan with ripe plantain. 

  • Pazham Nurukku

( PALAKKAD

Along with sambar, pazham nurukku is a famed delicacy of Palakkad for Kerala Sadhya. A Brahmin signature of vegetarian cuisine is served with payasam. It is made by ethapazham either ripe or raw cooked in jaggery syrup. 

  • Kurukku Kalan

( MALAPPURAM)

It’s a demand dish and a dry version of kalaan made of raw plantain and elephant yam made in kalchattis. While cooking, the kalchattis absorb the gravy, and the dish is served in semisolid form.

  • Varutharacha chicken curry

( KOZHIKODE)

Kozhikode is famed for its nonvegan cuisine. Without chicken curry, Kerala Sadhya is nothing for Kozhikode residents. Varutharacha chicken curry, chicken varattiyathu are some of the varieties.

  • Nurukku Gothambu payasam and Mulayari payasam

( WAYANAD) 

Nurukku Gothambu payasam or broken wheat payasam and  Mulayari payasam or bamboo payasam made with coconut milk and jaggery are the noted dishes for Wayanad residents in Kerala Sadhya. 

  • Kuzhachoonu and thengayaracha meen curry

( KANNUR)

No festivities are complete without fish curry for Kannur- Thalassery residents. They start sadhya with a paste of palayamkodan pazham, ghee, sugar, and pappadam.

  • Inchi thairu

( KASARAGOD)

Apart from the compulsory chicken curry, inchi thairu with thick yogurt, green chilies, and ginger is one of the favorite tastes of Kerala Sadhya here.
